asymmetric warfare
Analysis: Hamas's asymmetric warfare against Israel – lessons from Ukraine
Fighting in Gaza between the Israeli army and the armed faction of Hamas is a textbook example of modern asymmetric warfare. Whenever fighting ends, it will be studied by strategists and tacticians. The term "asymmetric warfare" has been used for less than 60 years, but the concept is much older. Asymmetric wars are usually bloodier and more savage than those between regular armies: In a state versus non-state conflict, the latter's fighters are not recognised as "proper" combatants and thus not considered protected by international conventions and laws of war. The regular army will use weapons and tactics that might be legally unacceptable in a "proper war".

Weapons of the weak: Russia and AI-driven asymmetric warfare
"Artificial intelligence is the future, not only for Russia, but for all humankind. It comes with colossal opportunities, but also threats that are difficult to predict. Whoever becomes the leader in this sphere will become the ruler of the world."1 "A people that no longer can believe anything cannot make up its mind. It is deprived not only of its capacity to act but also of its capacity to think and to judge. And with such a people you can then do what you please."2

The role of machine learning in a new era of asymmetric warfare (sponsored) - DN - Defence Notes - Shephard Media
This video and article is brought to you by L3Harris. What benefit does machine learning give us in the battlespace? How can we use it ethically to make the right decisions? Is the human in the loop or on the loop? In forthcoming conflicts, it may not be possible to rely on well-defined chains-of-command.
